Why American Board
Our Commitment to Veterans
Your military service has already prepared you to lead, adapt, and serve others. We’re committed to helping you build on those strengths with a fast, affordable pathway to the classroom. Our flexible, self-paced online program lets you earn your teaching certification on your own schedule, whether you’re still transitioning out of the service or have already made the move to civilian life. With our special $1,000 military rate, you can begin your next mission of service in months, not years.
Serving those who served
A Long History With Our Military
Initially through Troops to Teachers, then through DoD SkillBridge, American Board has a long-standing history of partnership with our military. Now as a stand-alone service, we provide certification support so Veterans and their spouses can transition to a new career in service, this time in local schools.
Alaska
Green to Teach
American Board offers the only approved Green to Teach pathway in Alaska, helping transitioning service members move directly from military service into meaningful careers in education.
Paying for the program
Can I use the Post 9/11 GI Bill?
No. As the American Board is certification based and does not offer individual courses, we do not accept FAFSA, the Post 9/11 GI Bill, or other scholarships. The $1,000 military rate is how we help keep the program affordable for service members.
From a veteran
“American Board’s option was the most cost-effective and easiest to accomplish for securing a new license without spending tens of thousands of dollars. Adding the support given to me as a veteran sealed the deal.”
