American Board’s teacher certification is recognized nationally in public schools for 16 states, as well as in most private schools in all 50 states. We are constantly working to expand into other states and help bring more certified teachers into classrooms.

Teach at a Private or Charter School
With American Board certification, you can teach in private schools across the country, and you may be eligible to teach in charter schools in states where we don’t currently operate. Check with the school to confirm it accepts American Board certification.
Moving to Another State?
Already certified through American Board? Many states offer a path for teachers who hold a license from another state. Check with your new state’s department of education, or reach out and we’ll help you understand your options.
